L'Occitane in Brazil

L’Occitane arrived in Brazil in 1995, opening a showroom which also offered customer service. In 1996, the brand launched its first store in Morumbi Shopping in Sao Paulo. The success was huge, and two more stores were opened, one in Sao Paulo and the other in Curitiba.

Between 1999 and 2000, L’Occitane opened two more stores in Sao Paulo, two others in Rio de Janeiro, one in Brasilia and another one in Belo Horizonte. The most recent one was opened in Cidade Jardim in Sao Paulo and respects the design and architecture of the L’Occitane French street boutiques. In 2001, the brand launched in Jardins, SP, the first  En Provence boutique, inventing the concept of a spa-boutique which brought together a store and the first Spa L’Occitane of the world in the same structure.

Since then, L’Occitane Brazil kept on growing. L’Occitane has now 52 stores, counting 37 own stores and 15 franchises, and another two Spas L’Occitane in Sao Paulo and Recife, and has a total of more than 150 selling points on the whole national territory.

In August 2009, L’occitane achieved the complete acquisition of the Brazilian subsidiary, a strong move to clearly demonstrate its will to invest in the country. In order to maintain the company’s growth in the fifth most important market of the company worldwide, Anna Chaia was appointed President, responsible for the management of the company during the crucial phase of professionalization of L’Occitane Brazil. She was also responsible for building a real synergy with the international standards and for implementing an international strategy in harmony with these standards.
